Pygmalion (1938)

Linguistics professor Henry Higgins (Leslie Howard) bets his friend Colonel Pickering (Scott Sunderland) that he can turn Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle (Wendy Hiller) into a lady.

Interesting Note
:
- First [and best!] film version of Shaw's play.

Thoughts
:
I really liked this!  It's definitely very close to the play, since the screenplay for this film was written by Shaw.  Truly excellent performances from the entire cast make this so entertaining to watch.  This is one of my favorite roles of Leslie Howard's, and certainly Wendy Hiller was wonderful as Eliza.  The 'transformation scenes' are so well done, and I really like the happier ending.  Definitely check this out if you haven't seen it yet!
